Skiing for All Levels
Located on a mountain within the Canaan Valley State Park in West Virginia, Canaan Valley Resort is a skier’s paradise. With an annual average of 180 inches of snowfall, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts flock to these trails for the epic snow and breathtaking scenery. With 47 trails ranging from beginner to advanced, Canaan Valley Resort is the perfect getaway for both families and avid skiers.

Beginner Trails
If you’re traveling with little ones, or if you’re a beginner yourself, the instructors at Canaan Valley Resort make learning the sport fun. Once you’ve conquered the art of skiing and feel ready to hit the trails, you can take the “B” lift to the “Sissy Schuss” and “Bunny Buster,” Canaan Valley Resort's two designated beginner trails. Once you have mastered these slopes, you are ready to take the “C” lift to the top of the mountain and tackle Canaan Valley Resort’s signature trail, “Timber Trail.” This 1.25-mile run has a more moderate-beginner feel and is beautiful from top to bottom. While it’s easy to stay in control on Timber Trail, it also provides a challenge for skiers and snowboarders looking to test their skills. This is a great trail for families because of its longer length. You’ll spend more time on the slopes and less time on the lifts.

Advanced Trails
There’s no shortage of advanced trails at Canaan Valley Resort. While your friends or family are skiing “Timber Trail,” you can take on the Meadow Glades area of the mountain. Don’t expect a walk in the park—most of the advanced trails are black diamonds. You’ll find tree lines and open meadows of endless powder. Because of its location on the mountain, the winds blow piles of powder into the meadows and create natural moguls and knee-deep runs of pure powder.
Once you’ve soaked in the perfection of the Meadow Glades, jump over one slope to the Prophecy Glades, known as the grand-daddy of all tree lines at Canaan Valley Resort. These trees weave down the entire western side of the mountain. The vertical gradient is sure to make your legs burn.

Snow Tubing
If snow tubing is more your speed, Canaan Valley Resort’s tubing park is a must. The newly renovated feature has nine lanes and a magic carpet lift that takes tubers to the top of the hill. At a whopping 1,200-feet long, the tubing hill is one of the longest tubing parks in the MId-Atlantic. It provides hours of entertainment for kids (and adults) and is the perfect vacation spot for families of all ages.
Stay and Play
The Canaan Valley Resort is a win-win. Not only are there trails for skiers of all levels and a one-of-a-kind tubing park, but the resort also provides excellent lodging and dining. If you’re looking for the perfect winter vacation spot, Canaan Valley Resort checks all the boxes. Grab your winter gear and head to the mountains of West Virginia.
