Carl Swick is a Philippi, West Virginia native who impersonates Abraham Lincoln at events, including the Blue and Gray Reunion and the Republican Lincoln Dinner. Swick's admiration for Lincoln began when he was growing up, and he started impersonating him after receiving a positive reception at the Gettysburg National Military Park. Swick has said that Lincoln was his hero and that he wanted to bring the country back together. He believes that Lincoln would say today that the country needs to remain united, not divided. Swick has also appeared as Lincoln at events hosted by the West Augusta Historical Society, where he has brought Lincoln's legacy to life through storytelling and reenacting. He will present an condensed version of his biography starting from the time he was born until his death and legacy. Ending with the Gettysburg address.
