As winter snow gives way to the blossoms of flowering trees, the mild mountain summers make tennis, golf, swimming, and hiking easy and comfortable. Our picturesque mountain cabins are surrounded by 18 miles of trails – in wetlands and northern hardwood forests – as well as open meadows, abundant with wildlife. Enjoy mountain biking, scenic chairlift rides, hiking, and our world-class golf course. With the Allegheny Mountains serving as your backdrop, nature lovers can enjoy over 200 species of birds, 600 types of wildflowers, and a forest full of wildlife – including deer greeting you at the entrance.
Hiking & Biking – Hit The Trails!
If you love to bike, Canaan Valley Resort State Park is perfect for you! The park offers 18 miles of marked trails through woodlands, meadows, hills and streams, many of which are linked with hundreds of miles of marked trails in the 1,000,000 acre Monongahela National Forest. Most trails are open to mountain-bikers as well. Whether you come in spring, summer or fall, you’ll discover this is a very special place for bird watching, wildlife sightings, plant discoveries and star-gazing. A new regional hiking/mountain- biking trail guide shows 150 miles of trails for your pleasure. *Helmet rental included in bike rental.

Scenic Chairlift Ride
Opening May 25, 2013
Ride the ski lift during the fall months for a breathtaking scenic view of the valley and surrounding Allegheny Mountains from 4,280′. You can ride the lift back down or hike the two miles to base camp. Either way, it’s an unforgettable experience.

**Mountain Bike Access Lift Ticket – for the guest who wants to utilize the scenic chairlift to have access to the mountain terrain at the ski area, may purchase a one trip, half-day or full-day lift ticket. **Helmet required for biking on mountain. Helmet rental: $5.

Sporting Clays Five Stand Target Field
Canaan Valley Resort’s newest outdoor sport activity is trap shooting, one of the three major forms of competitive clay pigeon shooting (shotgun shooting at clay targets). A fee based activity, each shooter has twenty-five shots total (5 shots per stand), with all shooting done under the authority of a range supervisor. The trap range does not require a hunting license. Reservations are suggested: 304-866-4121 ext. 2691 *Must be 16 or older to participate.

Outdoor Pool
The outdoor pool features beautiful scenic mountain vistas, pool slide, and plenty of sun and fun for all ages. Towels, locker room, and vending machines on-site. Open seasonally May 25 – September 2, 2013. Notice: Lifeguards are on duty during pool hours of operation.

Geocaching! You are the search engine.
Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for GPS users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a GPS unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache. Currently, we have 5 hidden caches on site. Rental units & map coordinates available at the Beech Club. Deposit required when renting GPS System.

Climbing Wall & Eurobungy
Attempt to climb to the top of the 25′ Climbing Wall or see how high you can jump on the Eurobungy. As many as three climbers can scale the wall at one time – race your friends in timed relays to the top of the wall. *Fun for the whole family! Located at the Nature Center. * Weight Restrictions: Minimum: 45 lbs • Maximum: 250 lbs
